Mac Florendo as Iharu Furuhashi and Shoshiro Hoshina


Voice artist Mac Florendo takes on the unique challenge of portraying two significant characters in the Tagalog dub of Kaiju No. 8: the ambitious recruit Iharu Furuhashi and the composed and formidable vice-captain Shoshiro Hoshina. Through these dual roles, Florendo demonstrates both versatility and vocal control, bringing two distinctly different personalities to life.

Florendo is recognized for his dynamic range and expressive delivery, qualities that have allowed him to thrive in both animated and live-action dubbing. His growing portfolio reflects a commitment to storytelling through voice, with performances that effectively convey character emotion, tension, and personality.

Among his notable works are projects such as Shin Ultraman, The Curse of Bridge Hollow, Restart the Earth, and Welcome to Waikiki. He has also contributed to animated productions including Gachiakuta, Legend of Luban, Picasso Trigger, Nasreddin Hoca, and Uncle Grandpa.

In Kaiju No. 8, Florendo’s portrayal of Iharu Furuhashi captures the character’s youthful determination and competitive spirit as a new recruit striving to prove himself within the Defense Force. Conversely, his interpretation of Shoshiro Hoshina emphasizes the character’s confidence, strategic mindset, and seasoned combat experience.

Balancing these two contrasting characters requires careful vocal differentiation, and Florendo’s performance highlights his ability to adapt his tone, pacing, and emotional delivery to suit each role effectively.

Kathleen Sone: From Scholarship to Voice Over Flowers
