Kathleen Sone: From Scholarship to Voice Over Flowers
Kathleen Sone, scholar of Sir Pocholo Gonzales, turning her passion into a platform with Voice Over Flowers and inspiring aspiring voiceover artists
For Kathleen Sone, voice artistry began as a passion without a clear path. She had no formal training, no guidance, and no certainty whether her voice work would remain a side hustle or grow into a full-time career. Everything changed in 2015 when she discovered Sir Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales online.
Kathleen recalls how she was saving up for a workshop that cost ₱10,000, but as a fresh graduate, she couldn’t afford it. To her surprise, Sir Pocholo offered her a full scholarship. That opportunity became the turning point of her career. “I was really excited. I was present in all of our workshops, and that opened up so many opportunities,” she shares.
Through Creative Voices Productions, Kathleen gained confidence, built a network, and landed projects with both local and international clients. One of her most unforgettable milestones was voicing the IVR system for Jollibee Delivery. “Thank you for calling Jollibee Delivery. To order, press 1…” became a viral moment when she posted it on her YouTube channel, Voice Over Flowers. The project not only boosted her visibility but also showcased how voice artistry could intersect with marketing and digital platforms.
Her channel became more than just a portfolio—it evolved into a platform for aspiring voiceover artists. By sharing behind-the-scenes content, Kathleen inspired others while attracting clients who appreciated her authenticity and skill.
Currently, Kathleen balances her voiceover work with her role as a creative writer at GMA Network, where she writes comedy scripts for weekend shows. She continues to explore both dubbing and voiceover, noting the differences in discipline: dubbing requires full-body expression and emotional immersion, while voiceover focuses on projection and clarity.
