From hosting events to creating content, Joshua Antares Simeon—better known as “The Voice Scout”—has built a career as a full-time voice artist. A proud graduate of the Certified Voice Artist Program (Batch 1), Joshua shares his passion, his home recording setup, and his advice for aspiring talents.  


His studio may be simple, but it’s effective. Equipped with an Audio-Technica AT2020 XLR microphone, paired with a PreSonus Audiobox USB96 audio interface, Joshua ensures professional-quality sound. He complements this with tools like the Alctron PF8 pop filter for noise reduction, Sennheiser earphones for monitoring, and a Logitech webcam for streaming. Despite not having full acoustic treatment, his setup proves that resourcefulness and proper technique can deliver excellent results.  

Joshua emphasizes the importance of patience and persistence in voice artistry. Recording often means late nights, turning off fans to avoid noise, and enduring the heat to achieve clean audio. “You need to sweat a lot when you’re recording voiceovers because your environment needs to be quiet,” he explains.  

His advice to newcomers is practical and motivational:  

- Start with what you have. USB microphones are affordable and beginner-friendly, while XLR setups provide more solid output.  
- Match your mood to your performance. Emotions must align with the script to make delivery authentic.  
- Keep auditioning. Rejection is part of the journey, but every attempt builds confidence and brings you closer to a breakthrough.  

Joshua’s story reflects the reality of voice artistry: it’s not just about equipment, but about discipline, resilience, and the courage to keep trying. His journey from student to full-time professional shows that with persistence, even small beginnings can lead to big opportunities.

Kathleen Sone: From Scholarship to Voice Over Flowers
