In the world of entertainment, voices often carry as much weight as faces on screen. Behind every animated hero, dramatic soap opera, or foreign film adaptation lies the artistry of dubbing—a craft that transforms characters into relatable figures for audiences.  

Allan Ortega, a seasoned dubbing director, actor, and radio drama talent, embodies this passion. From stage shows to radio dramas, movies, and television, Ortega has dedicated his career to breathing life into characters through voice. His philosophy is simple yet profound: “Every job should be treated as if it’s your last. Do it well, because that’s what people will remember.”  

Ortega’s journey began in dubbing studios, where collaboration and creativity flourished. He recalls the joy of hearing audience reactions—whether laughter, annoyance, or admiration—as proof that his voice had truly connected with them. Over the years, he has lent his voice to countless projects, from Korean dramas and Mexican films to beloved anime series like Bleach and Get Backers.  

But beyond talent, Ortega emphasizes discipline and versatility. In an industry where one voice is never enough, he advises aspiring dubbers to develop multiple vocal styles and to always arrive prepared. “Study your character,” he insists, “because syncing isn’t just about matching words—it’s about capturing movements, emotions, and flow.”  

For Ortega, dubbing is more than a profession; it’s a calling that demands resilience. Rejections are part of the process, but persistence and focus pave the way to success. His message to newcomers is clear: don’t tire of auditioning, don’t be discouraged by setbacks, and always deliver your best performance.  

As the dubbing community continues to grow, voices like Ortega’s remind us that behind every line spoken on screen is a craft built on dedication, creativity, and heart.

Kathleen Sone: From Scholarship to Voice Over Flowers
