From Passion to Purpose: Reymar Peña’s Long Road to Voice Acting

Reymar Peña of TagaDubb TV shares his decade-long journey of perseverance, passion, and purpose in the voice acting industry

Reymar Peña’s journey into voice acting did not happen overnight. Like many artists, his passion began at a young age, inspired by cartoons from the 1990s. While watching animated shows, he would draw the characters and imitate their voices, slowly developing his ability to change tones and personalities. This skill followed him through high school and college, where he became known as the class clown, using voice impressions to entertain classmates and teachers alike.

Despite his passion, Reymar’s life took a practical turn when he worked as a medical representative for nearly ten years. During this time, he placed his dream of becoming a voice artist on hold, focusing instead on earning a living. However, his love for voice acting never disappeared. Even while working in sales, he used his voice skills to connect with clients, especially doctors, unknowingly sharpening his communication and performance abilities.

His first real encounter with the voice acting industry came when he discovered Creative Voices Production while browsing online during his college years. At the time, workshops were not easily accessible, and financial limitations prevented him from joining. Years later, an opportunity finally arrived when Sir Pocholo De Leon Gonzalez opened a free one-day workshop as a gift to aspiring voice artists. Reymar took the chance, submitted audition videos showcasing his impersonation skills, and was accepted into the workshop under the guidance of Sir Choi and other mentors.

That workshop became a turning point. Reymar immersed himself in learning the fundamentals of voice artistry, understanding that passion alone was not enough discipline, patience, and perseverance were equally important. He became actively involved in Creative Voices, eventually being trusted with leadership roles and internal projects. Alongside this, he began creating content, documenting his journey and sharing behind-the-scenes experiences through his channels, Ramir TV and TagaDubb TV.

The pandemic posed another major challenge, but Reymar and his fellow artists refused to give up. Instead, they found new ways to grow, collaborate, and continue honing their skills despite uncertainty. Through sacrifice and teamwork, they managed to push forward, believing that their efforts would eventually bear fruit. Over time, Reymar’s dedication paid off as he achieved his dream of becoming a dubbing director, contributing to internal projects and helping guide new voice artists.

For Reymar, success is not about competition or instant rewards. He believes that projects will naturally come to those who remain passionate and committed. Rather than focusing on what he can gain, he emphasizes what he can contribute whether through teaching, directing, or supporting fellow artists. His vision for the future is to multiply opportunities within the industry by mentoring more voice artists, directors, and creatives, especially those who lack resources but possess real potential.

Reymar also strongly believes in humility and gratitude. He credits his growth to his mentors and the community that supported him throughout his journey. For aspiring voice artists, his message is clear: do not be afraid to try, nurture your passion, stay humble, and take care of your voice, mental health, and personal growth. Everyone starts from scratch, and success comes not from rushing, but from trusting the process and staying true to one’s purpose.
