Building Voices, Building Leaders: The Story Behind Creative Voices’ Impact

Meeting Pocholo Gonzales, widely known as the “Voice Master” at a college organization event was not initially life-changing. At that time, the young attendee sat quietly in the audience, far from being the outspoken “bibo” type. Voice acting was not yet part of his plans.

That changed after attending a Creative Voices seminar, where professional voice artists demonstrated the craft up close. The energy inside the room was electric. Watching voice-overs and dubbing performed live left a strong impression, turning curiosity into genuine fascination. What began as interest slowly evolved into a serious pursuit of voice artistry.

In 2017, he enrolled in the Certified Voice Artist Program. However, professional responsibilities and graduate studies eventually pulled him away from the craft. Academic struggles followed, and during that period, he felt he had lost the passion that once inspired him.

Months later, Creative Voices resurfaced on his social media feed. This time, he decided to reach out expecting the usual barriers associated with the dubbing industry: expensive equipment, rigid standards, and exclusivity. Instead, he encountered what has become one of Creative Voices Production’s most significant contributions to Philippine dubbing: accessibility.

When he asked if he needed a high-end microphone to begin again, he was told that a simple USB microphone would suffice. That response symbolized a broader shift one that welcomed aspiring talents rather than intimidated them. He rejoined through CBAP Batch 14, and with it, his motivation returned.

Yet the transformation went beyond technical training.

Creative Voices Production has gradually reshaped dubbing culture in the Philippines by fostering a system where artists do not simply graduate, they return to lead. After completing the program, he volunteered in the secretariat, mentored future batches, and hosted workshops. This cycle from student to volunteer to mentor, demonstrates a structured and collaborative model that continues to strengthen the professional dubbing community.

Today, many members describe SIVA as more than an organization. It is a support-driven environment where encouragement is part of everyday culture. Simple affirmations “congrats,” “thank you,” “proud of you” sustain artists in an industry that can often be demanding.

Through this model, Creative Voices Production has helped transform Philippine dubbing from a closed-door profession into a mentorship-based community producing not only voice artists, but mentors, leaders, and advocates who continue to move the craft forward.
